May 9, Wednesday

Train to Hakodate/ Fururu orientation/ Museum & Shrine

9:32am: Taking a train from Sapporo to Hakodate.

The spring flower bento in the train was almost too beautiful to eat!

                                                              Arrived at Hakodate!

                                           Final destination!  Welcome to Hakodate!

                                                       - Orientation at Fururu Hakodate-

                                                       Our Home Sweet Home Fururu!
This place used to be my elementary school, but currently is used as Youth Seminar House.  They kept one classroom from the elementary school and we used it for the Orientation.  It made me nostalgic to see my old classroom with  little desks, chairs, blackboard, rulers...etc.  And at the same time, I felt really funny and happy to see my students from Canada sitting there and sharing my old classroom!

At Fururu, they teach you how to fold Futon set by showing a demonstration with the miniature futon!   Everyone had to learn the very precise way of folding them.  Hahaha... Japanese culture lesson 1!!

After the orientation, we went to the Hakodate Museum.

A lot of Sakura (cherry blossom) was gone, but there were still some left!

                                                              Beautiful color contrast!
